I attended the most F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S workshop yesterday! Put on by wedding photographers extraordinaire, Justin & Mary Marantz, it was like a day at Hogwarts for Muggle photographers…pure magic!! Surrounded by my uber-talented colleagues, Justin and Mary walked us through a wedding with them and we got to play with amazing details, a stunning couple, and all of the lighting and shooting techniques you can think of! I talked Justin’s ear off all the way home- my Justin, not Justin Marantz…just thought I should clarify! 🙂 – and woke up early this morning to go back through my notes and make sure I didn’t miss anything! Being my first ever shooting workshop, I will admit that I was CRAZY nervous…more nervous than I ever was in law school, more nervous than I was for my own wedding…seriously! I had no idea what to expect, whether everyone there would judge my mistakes, but I realized within the first hour that my nerves were utter silliness! Everyone was absolutely wonderful and I I could just yap and yap about the high I am riding right now…I feel incredibly inspired and motivated!!!
Okay- I can’t hold back any more…you just have to see what Justin & Mary (and their jack-of-all-trades-super-star-assistant Julia) put together for us!!!
We began at their home and studio with the “getting ready” (I was actually scribbling notes furiously and listening intently, so I didn’t get a TON of shots, but you get the drift!)
Alicia was our “maid of honor” for the day! The talented Andrea DiLieto was the make-up artist…gorgeous, ladies!!
I think Alicia bears a striking resemblance to Scarlett Johansson, don’t you?
The shoes! The glorious yellow shoes!!
After talking ceremony photos at the Episcopal Church of St. Paul and St. James and chowing down on some Pepe’s pizza for lunch, we headed over to the Lighthouse Point Carousel to do more amazing details, reception images, and portraits! The venue is just amazing!
I couldn’t stop photographing the lemon placecard holders…can I please get married again? Pleeeeeaaaaassssseeee…..I really want an excuse to make some of these!!
How adorable are these tags?!?!?! Pretty please can I have a lemonade themed wedding? I think Justin & I should renew our vows every year with a complete wedding, don’t you agree?
I mean, seriously! Martha Stewart’s got nuthin’ on Justin, Mary, and Julia!!
Two of the “bridesmaids”…
The amazing headwear was all handmade to order by make-up artist and designer Larissa Lake…given my obsession with bridal headwear, I will be following her work from now on!!
We practiced shooting First Looks with our fantastic couple, Candace & Josh…these two were endlessly patient with all of us!!
And then it was portrait time!!
Another example of Larissa Lake’s incredible work!
Thank you so much, Justin & Mary!!!! It was SO SO SO great to get to know you guys and to meet so many fantastic people…THANK YOU!!!!
