When Ali and Cesar first contacted me about photographing their wedding in Biddeford Pool, Maine, and mentioned that there would be an ice cream truck and salsa dancing involved, I got really excited. Then Ali revealed that they actually live in Ottawa, Canada. And I got even more excited. Then I found out that Cesar is actually from Peru. And I got even MORE excited! Seriously? An international, multi-cultural couple from Canada getting married on the beautiful rocky shores of Biddeford Pool, Maine, with an ice cream truck getaway car and a salsa dance instructor leading the dancing? WHERE do I sign up!?!?! Add to that ecstasy the fact that I got to travel to the insanely gorgeous city of Ottawa for the engagement session, and you understand why I am just counting the days until their wedding later this month!
After a little Cindy-adventure on the drive up (I crossed the border into Canada about 45 min east of where I’d intended to and ended up lost and wandering aimlessly around the stunning French-Canadian countryside admiring the picturesque farmhouses and attempting to translate the road signs with the miniscule amount of French I’ve tried to teach myself from the CDs in my car!), I arrived in what is now, hands down, one of my favorite cities in North America. Over one of the most scrumptious brunches I’ve ever eaten, Ali and Cesar shared their story with me…and what a story it is!! Have I mentioned lately that I have the coolest clients ever? Let’s just say that their story began with Ali renting a room in Cesar’s home in Peru and through years of back and forth between Canada and Peru, their relationship has grown into something truly beautiful to witness. Ali’s work takes her all over the world and I just think that it is so amazing that she found love amidst those travels! I am so so lucky to have as part of my job description the task of witnessing and documenting the tremendous amount of love that exists in this world and this ridiculously fun engagement session is no exception!!
So without further chatter from me, meet Ali and Cesar at home in Ottawa!
One of the museums has a sculpture outside that is set up like a living room, complete with chairs, television, and front door…such fun to play with!!
Then it was down to Ottawa’s famous canal…it was so awesome to see how many people take advantage of the incredible green space along the canal!
Doesn’t Ali have the most incredible blue eyes you’ve ever seen?!
I love love love how Cesar’s eyes are ALWAYS smiley! He just makes you want to smile too!
The bridges and architecture in Ottawa were definitely cool…it’s amazing to me how European the city felt to me!
The locks for the canal were super cool!! We had a little too much fun playing around there!
I love this shot of Ali!
Ali and Cesar!! Thank you guys so much for showing me around your magnificent city!! Just a few weeks now…I can’t wait!!
