Kaitlin and Matthew met on UNH’s campus…college sweethearts who turned into so much more! It was only natural then that we grab some engagement portraits where their story began before heading to their current home in Newburyport, MA!

Home. Family. Each other. Casey and Nate are two people who just radiate what they value most in this world. You just seem to know instinctively before they say a word where their priorities lay. From the moment we met up for their engagement session last year (one of my favorites!), their welcoming personalities and openness were immediately apparent! It was no surprise then that their wedding at Sunday River, nestled into the mountains of Maine, was a warm, homey event full of close-knit friends and family! Without further ado…

Beautiful pictures
One of the most amazing and rewarding aspects of my job is that it often allows me entrance into the lives of my clients in a meaningful and special way. I’m most often initially contacted because two people have fallen in love and have decided to build a life together and would like me to capture that love with my camera. At the engagement session we begin to get to know each other and I get to witness a glimpse of their relationship, the ins and outs of how they communicate and support one another (most people are nervous about being photographed the first time we work together!). Then I get to be a part of their wedding day with all of the joy and stress and emotions and family and friends and community that that entails! I get to hang out along the edges and pause once-in-a-lifetime moments for clients who have often by this point become friends. It’s awesome, I tell you!
What is really cool is when I get to also be a part of the “happily-ever-after,” the continuing story, the part that comes after “I do.” We all know that the story doesn’t end with the wedding, but begins! The idea of documenting a family’s beginning and growth and change through the years is one of the most powerful draws to my work for me! I love love LOVE the idea of being a family’s photographer for life, to photograph a couple’s engagement photos this year and their child’s senior portraits twenty years from now! That continuity and investment in their love story is seriously why I chose photography as my calling!
Anne and James first contacted me nearly two years ago! They have an amazing story and I was just thrilled to be a part of it! We met for the first time at their engagement session and their Laudholm Farm wedding under the stormy skies of Hurricane Irene is one of my all-time favorites! So you might imagine my utter delight when they were ready to have me come meet Oliver, their ridiculously adorable son who I just want to squeeze ’til he pops! Seriously…those cheeks!! Ahh!!!
